Shine tells the story of a group of six strangers who come together to serve a community payback sentence given to them for various offences they have committed. Their payback project is to build the set for a forthcoming production of The Importance of Being Earnest by the Bidworth St John Players. Over the course of the play, through good times and bad, the group forms a bond that ultimately helps each of them achieve something they never thought possible.

The Players, working under a new director, begin the process of auditions and rehearsals for the play, with newcomers joining in alongside old hands. Tensions emerge as old and new ideas come together, leaving the production in a precarious position.

Shine is an uplifting story of redemption. It will make you laugh, cry, sing, and dance, leaving you with the ultimate feelgood factor.

Archive material – an appeal from Harden Players

We are hoping to archive a history of Players’ performances from its long and distinguished past – partly in memory of Brian Foster, who was an active member for many years, but also as a way of celebrating the continuity and changes embodied in such a thriving community organisation. If you have any photographs, or old copies of programmes, posters, scripts or recordings (Betamax and VHS welcomed!), we would love to get them digitised. Please contact the Players on hardenplayers@hotmail.co.uk
